Tuff Ink Writing Services’ Story (And How It Helps You)

By Lois Tuffin

On a cold winter day in 1997, I sat in front of a computer screen in a business centre in Ottawa. That day, I registered my first enterprise after leaving a secure and beloved job of the past seven years.

When the Business Name window popped up, I panicked. I had yet to even think about this step. Instinctively, I drew a name that stuck out of my imagination.

Tuff Ink Writing Services.

I smiled. Yes, that is exactly the result I wanted my future clients to have when they saw the work I created for them. And I have.

Tuff Ink - Chapter 2

Tuff Ink existed for about a year and a half until my husband was transferred and I found a full-time job that lasted for the next 20 years. By the time I left, I was editor in chief over 12 staff in three newsrooms with Torstar Corporation. It was quite a ride.

Over that time, I won virtually every community newspaper industry award, from Ontario's editor of the year, to North America's innovator of the year, plus writing awards for education, arts, columns, editorials, and many more.

My heart always remained in the act of writing. Sharing ideas and inspiring people to action created joy within me.

My community work reflects the same outlook -- rebranding and sharing the power of each charity -- whether it was creating affordable housing, matching kids with mentors, or empowering children with disabilities. The ability to capture an organization's essence and 'sell' it became invaluable when I went back to working for myself by choice.

These days, I am helping first-time writers get their books published. How powerful is that?!

I create website content that guides clients to get the answers they need from sites they trust. And I do so much more.

Words deliver meaning and results

My words celebrate life-changing volunteers, engage people in causes that give them meaning, educate older women about how to improve their health, and encourage people to explore the areas where they live.

I love every minute of it.

So many people find it hard to get the right words out of their heads. After a short conversation, I intuitively know what they mean. And I find the words for them.

If you are struggling to say what you want to get out, talk to me. I can support you on your journey, wherever it is that you are headed.

I'm just one click away.
